Morning hadn’t come quickly. It dragged by each anxious, uncomfortable second. Harriet’s mind wouldn’t stop going over all that could go wrong, and what has. The problem with a life unfolding is the proof life can in fact unfold with little warning or warrant. Harriet was sprawled out on the sofa which was serving as a bed until she got a place of her own.
