Old Friends and Staying Clean

We walk to a diner around the corner from the church. We sit down in a booth by a large window and order pie, catching up in a way that feels like the most comfortable pair of jeans in the world. I forget about everything else.

Sunshine swallows a bite of peach pie. “I expected you to settle down, buy a house. You know the whole family thing.”
